May 21, 201610 yr Picking resumed today....$6 shot. One of the three items is an eggbeater drill was a bit too tired to go down to the shop and get the tripod. Seems to be an almost complete Millers Falls No.5......At least I can research that info.. The other ( $0.50) tool looks like a Proctologist might use? Not sure what the spring was for. The handle? Has "B-M TOOL CO" Pat. Allowed and Prov. R.I. incised into the knob. Not even sure what this is for. handle is some decent looking wood, looks like a brass ferrel. Shaft was a black japanning. Can't even find the tool co. to see what this thing is. last of the fifty cent finds.. NOT a brake tool. Thinking I could straighten out the pointy end, add a ferrel and a handle, and clean the bottoms of a few mortises I happen to be chopping. Only markings on this one is an "X". The eggbeater WAS marked $10, talked it down to $5 Paid for all three items, and continued on down the street. West Liberty, OH village wide yard sales this weekend....
May 22, 201610 yr Author Speed bar like contraption is a BIG screwdriver, for slotted screws. The two arms seem to act as keepers while you drive the screw. Still trying to figure out the spring part... "Brake Tool": Used it today, to clear out the chips down in the mortises I chopped. Might still add a handle, as that pointy end is hard on the hands. Jury is still out on the NO. 5 Eggbeater drill.....seems to be a few things missing on it....
August 31, 20169 yr NOT a brake tool? How about a cotter pin tool? The flat end spreads the open ends, while the round point fits into the eye to pull the pin out of wherever! John
August 31, 20169 yr Proctology tool looks like an early grab it tool. Not hemorrhoids but dropped bolts.

August 31, 20169 yr The local gas company still uses those old "egg beater" drills to verify if an old steel gas line is abandoned or not. They try to find it on their computer maps, but sometimes one slips by that is not on the map or has been abandoned without being updated on the maps. So, they get an 1/16" drill bit and the egg beater and go to work.
August 31, 20169 yr Author Speed bar/screwdriver "donated" the wooden knob to one of the Eggbeater drills I have.. Speed bar handle, meet Mr. Granit Tool Co. drill. Along with two other rehabs. M-F #2-01 and a M-F #120. They and a few others have since found a spot to hang out in the shop.. As there isn't room on the Dining Room Table for any more
August 31, 20169 yr Author The "Strange Tool" eggbeater is a No.5. It was the one that got the speed bar handle, still need to clean and repaint the drive wheel. There are 4 eggbeaters, a breast drill, a 10" non ratcheting brace, and a 14" brace with a Holdall chuck. Still have three others to either hang up, or stow elsewhere..... Since the brace till is kind of full.....
