May 6, 201610 yr oh look. Haven't even started the top piece that's go up seven feet with crown m molding and shelves but here's the base unit all I gotta do is cut the one shelf to size and decide where vertically to mount it screw on the top trim the side base boards to size ( they all mount with screws from inside) and the top is already ready to go with the mount brackets pre drilled and screws started Oh and see to the trim under the top. Haven't decided on that yet and of course cut the hole in the front baseboard for the Beacon Morris Toe kick heater that I'm installing inside. The heater will be a HUGE help in the room where this is going. My home is 250 years old and the main living room in a Monster built with Oak Pegged and Tenon & Mortise construction and inside the walls is mortar and rubble so heating the room has always been a challenge. I'm installing the toe kick heater as its own zone with a blue tooth thermostat and sender. Oh yah the pic it's about 5 feet long
May 8, 201610 yr Very nice and clean Cliff, very nice work indeed sir. Question, what are those black tic marks at the bottom right corner of the chest? They have me baffled.
May 9, 201610 yr Author 3 hours ago, John Morris said: Question, what are those black tic marks The board is just a scosh long and has since been cut down. Those marks are the lumber producer's marks. It's some kind of ink. I'm baffled that they would use it in the first place. Edited May 9, 201610 yr by Cliff
December 4, 20169 yr Author I did say slowly So the base unit is done but for the last bit of molding around the floor Here it is permanently in place painted with toe kick the heater installed I gotta do the molding around the base/floor
December 4, 20169 yr Mighty fine looking bookcase. I like how the original baseboard ties into the new build. Edited December 4, 20169 yr by lew
December 5, 20169 yr Already looks like it has always been there Cliff...great design...looking forward to seeing more of the journey.
December 6, 20169 yr Author LEMETELLYA that toe kick heater really makes a difference. It's on its own zone and the T stat is wireless so I can put the t-stat anywhere in the room set it and before too long it's at temp. That room used to be cold in the winter what with all the wall space and the walls insulated with - - - - MORTAR AND RUBBLE. Yah that's how they did it. Kept the wind out I guess.
December 6, 20169 yr Boy that sure blends in with the rest of the room, you did a nice job, you are right the old plaster walls are not that warm, and create a problem to insulate. I never thought of installing a separate heater, good idea, learned something today. Herb
