March 31, 201610 yr Carl Jacobson posted a nice video on making salt/pepper combinations- Most of us have made handles for a turning tool. Here, Brian Havens explains how to consider the length of the handle- When I use a faceplate, chuck or any metal accessory that screws onto the headstock threads I always use a Spindle Washer (learned through personal experience). They can be purchased from most woodworking stores and on-line. Here's a very short video showing how to make them- I have heard that there is some concern that a spindle washer can affect the trueness or run-out of the lathe. Here's a video demonstration from Rick McQuay explaining his views- Mimi gave my last 3 coffee scoops away. I have the materials cut and ready to glue to make the scoop portion. Guess I'll be at the lathe for a couple of days. Safe Turning!
