February 11, 201610 yr In this video I share how I cut small parts on the miter saw. I am sure this one will be cause for active commentary from the safety police and maybe the hand tool junkies for not using a fancy hand saw to cut small pieces. Well, this is the way I do it in the American Craftsman Workshop. Because if the tool doesn't make any noise and throw a rooster tail of sawdust, how am I supposed to know that any work is getting done? Hope you enjoy the video and find it helpful;) Remember to let your work be your signature. Your friend in the shop, Todd A. Clippinger Share the Love - Share the Knowledge
February 11, 201610 yr Todd - interesting video That being said, cutting small parts on a big saw is how I cut the end of my finger off. I prefer to cut those small parts on my scroll saw - to me, it just feels safer and doesn't mess with my nervous brain so much. My humble opinion
February 11, 201610 yr Todd - that is exactly why I love this forum. We always welcome opinions. After all, that's what makes the world go around.
February 11, 201610 yr Looks good to me, especially if you have a lot of identical stock to cut for a project.
February 11, 201610 yr Great video and presentation, Todd. Not to mention a great idea, too. Thanks, buddy.
February 11, 201610 yr I have made different fences similar to this before, though mine were much more, shall we say, less thought through. I always prefer to make the fences so that I can clamp them to my miter saw table as opposed to letting it slide freely as I will usually end up moving it. I definitely have picked up some good pointers from this video that will help me out in the future for cutting small trim. Thanks for posting that video! :-)
