small nasty turning

Featured Replies

My wife loves the small to tiny vases made of colorful wood. I started one of Yellow Hart and Purple Hart scraps. I didn't get too far before the purple Hart started giving me fits. It kept splintering off and looking ugly. I nearly tossed it a couple of times. I kept at it till I got some thing. I'm not happy with it, but I'll see what it looks like after a second finish is applied. If it looks decent, I'll post a picture. If not .................well,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I'll delete this entry....:P

Don't delete the entry Ron, take a picture of the project and post it here regardless what it looks like! Part of us learning from others is seeing what a disaster looks like because we all have em! I'd be very interested in seeing the turning either way.

I did get the small crochet needle vase completed and it don't look too bad. I had wood split out and some grain discoloring in the Purple Hart. She is happy with it and I was surprised it ended out as nice as it did. Nearly tossed it a couple of times.

nice.  PH has a reputation for tear out.  Almost forces one to use a skew sometimes

Pretty spiffy if you ask me. :)
