Green Beret speaking about vets dealing with suicide at Trump Vets Event

Featured Replies

This is "NOT" posted as a political advertisement or endorsement Donald Trump.
This is posted because of the speech done by a Green Beret John Wayne Walding talking about the issues facing Vets as they come home and dealing with the struggles of war as well as dealing with the great number of Vet suicides. The statistics show that on average there are 22 Vets committing suicide on a "DAILY BASIS"! This guy did a great job sharing about his struggles as well as encouraging others to carry on.

The link below carries the video of the The Green Beret John Wayne Walding speaking.

At the end of the Green Beret's speech there are a couple of his friends who are with a group from https://www.22kill.com/  that was established to educate people about the 22 Veterans per day suicides who talk about their group.

Thanks for this post, Allen. Veteran suicide is an epidemic that cannot be ignored.

" The statistics show that on average there are 22 Vets committing suicide on a "DAILY BASIS"!  "

Fred, that is an accurate statistic, and that sad statistic includes all veterans from all conflicts from WWII to current time. Now as sad as that is, it is a misleading statistic, it does not differentiate suicide from PTSD or other service related illnesses or a veteran who may have committed suicide for other reasons, loss of a wife, loss of family, financial difficulties, medical depression etc.

Here is some clarification on those stats:

Quote

Many experts believe that the farther a veteran is from military service, the less likely it is that his or her suicide has anything to do with his or her time in uniform. In other words, many older veterans are killing themselves for the same reasons that other civilians in the same age group kill themselves: depression and other mental health problems coupled with difficult life circumstances.
