Below is a link to a process I saw a couple of years back at a scroll saw picknick.  The process is called Lighting Wood.

 

 

Very interesting designs can be made.  Saw it done for a 30 inch plaque.  This could be used across all disciplines of wood working I would think.

David, I have never seen anything like that before, that is waaay cool. I can see using this process in a case work project such as a media cabinet console where there is a lot of surface exposed on the front, and a design like this could be the showcase, it reminded me of Japanese gardens. Imagine this on front of some maple case work, wow! Thanks for the great idea David.

I tried it with a neon sign power supply producing maybe 50 thousand volts.  I got a very small result. It was unsatisfying. I figures  what the heck and tried it with my DC welder and got nuthin.  But I did not use saline I used Baking soda.

Maybe I'll try saline.

These people are using a neon sign transformer with a Variarc

The demo I saw a couple of years back the guys setup was doing 15kv and he explained that he had tried various solutions until he came up with the one he is using now.
