January 27, 201610 yr Popular Post I came across this a while back and thought y'all might like it. How many of us use a graphite pencil when laying out a project? How many of us have gone .... OOPS! wrong spot for that line. How did you remove it? Sanding it off? Use up one of those huge pink erasers? There is a much simpler way. Today's pencils are made of graphite and the graphite is made into a paste that is extruded into the lead. This lead is most of the time easily dissolved with Denatured Alcohol. So wetting a rag with Denatured Alcohol and rubbing it on that errant pencil line will get rid of it without sanding or wasting an eraser. Most of us have Denatured Alcohol in the shop. DW
January 27, 201610 yr That's completely awesome Dave! I'm the typical 220 sandpaper guy. But I love your way much better!

April 18, 201610 yr I always keep about 8oz. of lacquer thinner in a quart container on the bench. I use it for all sorts of little things, one of them is wiping off errant marks just as you suggested.
