My wife wanted me to make a small table for her craft work. She told me the size it had to be to accommodate her craft work. She also told me what woods she wanted me to  use. Purple Hart and Bettle Kill Pine. I never really noticed the small knot until I saw this picture, it isn't that dark ??

I had several ideas and decided on the one pictured for the top. I have not yet decided on the leg design. I'm sure I'll use a combo of both woods.

Small, yes. She wanted it to fit in one location next to her chair and to fit in available space. She wants an edge around it to stick up slightly to keep her needles from rolling off. It also has to look nice with her coffee cup
