Wednesday's Wisdom For Woodturners December 16 2015

They guys put the finishing touches on the siding around noon today, packed up their trailer, left me the bill and took off! Not bad time for 2 1/2 workers. Old siding off, house wrap, new siding on, all windows/doors wrapped with aluminum/caulked and new spouting.

Anyway, the only turning I managed was to knock out 4 rolling pins so they could get to Florida before Christmas.

Some time back, I saw a Brian Havens' video where he created a silhouette turning using the shadow method. Here's a link to the turning-

The procedure Brian used is one developed by Mr. David Smith to turn spheres without using the typical ball turning jig. Here's a link to how Mr. Smith sets up to use the shadow method to create a sphere-

That's it for this week- Safe Turning.

That is really interesting Lew, the shadow method. I never ever would have thought this, and how useful it could be. Thinking outside of the box the shadow technique could probably be used for more than spheres?

Thanks for the interesting tip Lew, and I am glad the workers got to make it back home for Christmas, thanks to your help!
