Friday, Nov. 27th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda?

Featured Replies

Black Friday gets this weekend started off and there were lots of deals out there, both in the stores and online. Hope you got a chance to take advantage of some of them. I'm not much on standing in line, but I have been know to do it. I got up this morning and went to Lowe's to get a new ShopVac. Regular 99.00 for 39.00. I both one at those prices about 10 years ago and it is still running and hooked to my ROS and Belt Sanders. I figured and much as it runs it may keep the bucket and now would be a good time to have a standby ready

I also got out today since it warmed up here and repaired the gas in going to the shop so I will have heat when needed. Back in early summer when we started trying to widen the shop the line got cut. I let if thinking when they got my footings dug then I would move it and put it back. Since we have had so much rain this year I still have no footings dug so it was time to put it back together. I figure the guy will show up now that I have it back together.

I guess I was a good thing I got certified on poly pipe when I was at the gas department even though I was doing the computers and network. Got it together and no leaks and you don't check them with a candle!

So now it is in the shop to start cutting a batch of boards into end grain pieces and get the glued.

And Beth is already in the shop sanding or texting and sanding!

Have a great time in your shop and I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and got really stuffed!

I am off to the shop.. Catch you all later....

Survived Thanksgiving with all of Tami's family here. Today I pulled out all of the Christmas decorations out of the hall closet so Tami can start decorating the house. I will have to put together the tree as well as put up the Nativity outside. As for woodworking I will be making up 4 more wall mounted coat racks that will be smaller than the one I made this past week. They will be for gifts or for sale.

John,

What?

No sense of adventure?

Had to rebuild my clamp hanger after receiving those totally awesome Bessy clamps. My old one was made strictly for pipe clamps-

I redesigned the "slots" to work for pipes and parallel jaws and made the hanger longer to accommodate the additions.

The uprights attach to the ceiling joist rather than screws into the concrete block wall.

I think I may make a swing down storage holder, that fits between the ceiling joist, to hold the C-clamps and assorted others. Need to figure out the best way to hold the clamps so they don't dislodge when the holder swings up and down.

This little stool was left here in the house by the former owners when we moved in (1968). It's the perfect height for sitting and working at a "saw horse table". I can't count how many times it has been repaired.

Right now, I'm milling stock for more rolling pins.

Last of the tenons are done..

The old rebate plane finally works as a shoulder plane.  Mortises are not going as well.....went ahead and did ONE glue up, anyway...

Top of the legs has a apron glued up.  The short ones are just sitting in their mortises.   Need to chop a mortise to fit the lower stretcher.   And mortises (8!!!) on the last two legs.

have the landlord coming by in the morning, to finish up the painting upstairs.  Might even get a coat of primer on the "new" drywall.....

No Black Friday for me.  I'll use Al Gore's internet to shop.  I'm smack dab in the middle of building two lofts for my granddaughters.  The head and foot of the first bed is complete and I'll be working on side rails tomorrow.  Of course, I'll take a little time off to run a hundred or so rounds through my Glock tomorrow.

My son and I hung Christmas lights all day today! Well not really all day, we did not roll out to the front yard till noon, just too danged tired from yesterday, but after a cup of coffee and some prodding by my son, we got out and hung our lights, looks pretty good I must say for a couple knuckleheads who were having fun and barely working. We just came in a half hour ago!

No frustration Larry. I try to shoot a 100 or so rounds every couple of weeks. Since I carry, I try to stay accurate.

We Had our first Santa and Mrs. Claus visit on Friday in another "1 horse" town about 30 miles east of here. About 40 kids this time.

Our calendar is filling up!!!
