October 30, 201510 yr Finished up my last batch of cutting and cheese boards for Christmas sales and gifts. Final count is 25 large cutting boards and 35 cheese boards on hand. I already sold a couple of cutting boards and 8 cheese boards with 3 more going to a friend at church on Sunday. With all the sanding it is no wonder my back, neck and shoulders are hurting. But at least my hands are nice and soft from the mineral oil. ;-) So now I will have to take some good quality photos of the boards and make up a few flyers for my wife's school and online. Hopefully we will sell a lot of them so Momma has Christmas $$ for gifts.
October 30, 201510 yr looking good Allen.something we to that might save you some oiling time is flood our boards with a heavy coat of mineral oil and put them into plastic totes. after a few days all the oil is absorbed into the boards. this would save you from having to spread the plastic and lay them out as your pictures indicate.
October 30, 201510 yr Author Here is a photo of the cutting boards and cheese boards after completion. I made a few different designs of cutting boards and narrowed it down to 4 primary patterns (with my wife's input of course) as opposed to a whole bunch of random patterns to make my life easier. For the cheese boards I made up a number of different patterns as they are much easier to deal with since they are smaller. Once I see the response to the cheese boards then I can adjust as needed down the road. The cutting boards are between 16"-17" long and about 11" wide using 15 strips that are 3/4" wide each. The cheese boards between 6 3/4"-7" square using 9 strips that are 3/4" wide each. After planing and sanding they are all between 1"-1 1/8" thick. Edited October 30, 201510 yr by Allen Worsham
