Kind of a rainy day, here, so I spent the day getting some more walnut bowls turned.

I have one more walnut blank after the one chucked on the lathe. Then, I'll turn a spalted maple blank for friends who admire the platter we have in the living room. Some folks gave me a nice slab of butternut, as payment for computer work, so I'm going to make a butternut bowl for them. These and the coffee scoops should just about round out the Christmas gifts.

I saw John posted this, on the Patriot Facebook page, about making wooden pumpkins. It might be a little late for Halloween, but they would make nice Turkey Day decorations. Thanks, Woodcraft, for the blog post!

Craft Supplies also posted a bunch of Halloween turning projects.

Our buddy, Tim Yoder, is getting into the Christmas spirit. He shows us how to put together and turn a Laser Christmas Ornament kit.

Safe Turning!

You do more on a rainy day Lew than I can in a month! Nice bowls! Yep, the woodcraft pumpkins are pretty awesome, the plus side of it is, you can re-use them year after year. Thanks for the great Wed post Lew, great job! I love watching the Yoder videos.

Thanks, John, I actually had a couple of the bowls done earlier this week. Progress is slow- I hate sanding. Professional turners make sanding look so easy. For me, I really struggle with it.

That's why I don't watch the pro's Lew! They frustrate the heck out of me. So I do what I do, and I convince myself of my greatness in whatever I am doing. As long I stay away from the Roy Underhill show and other greats, I can maintain my sense of self worth in woodworking.

It works Lew, it truly does. It keeps me sane and happy with my own work. :)

John,

I be "AbbyNormal".

I likes sanding.
