Delta Round Badge Timeline

Featured Replies

The following images can help in determining the age of your Delta machines by the badge it wears, providing the part with the badge is original to the machine.

Delta also exported their machines under the Tauco name, I've seen photos of the 1936 through 1941 style badges with the Tauco name in place of the Delta name.

I'll post those photos if I can find them.

Thanks Larry! I have my old Delta Rockwell drill press I can date now, and my scroller that's up at Dad's house. I'll provide pics when I get out to the shop later today, thanks again mate!

What happened to 41-52.  It was there the other day.

Here's my Drill Press Larry, looks like I have a Delta Rockwell 1953-1966.  I was born in 66'. How cool would that be if it was actually made on my b day. How can I tell the exact year of manufacturing?

John,

If the machine has the Serial No. badge on it you can look here to see if the number is listed to get a mfg. date.

15" Drill Press?

15" Drill Press?

Yep 15". Sounds like a train, it needs a tune up, but it looks cool. Everything seems straight, but it's just generally rough sounding, bearings?

John,

How's the belt?

It may be making the press sound rough if it's developed some hardening.

Larry the belt is fine, I replaced it two years ago with the standard automotive belt. Although upon closer examination the motor mounting place seems to rattle, there is the spring loaded gizmo that applies pressure to the motor mount plate that does not seem to hold the plate tight.

Check parts 26,27,28 in this manual.

The spring is probably weak.

Very awesome Larry, thanks a bunch sir.

Hope the Delta badge history is accurate,  if so and it appears to be, thank you very much

David,

I have since found that the 3 stripe 1939-41 badge was first used on the Catalog No. 768 Delta 10" band saw that was introduced in 1937. So far that is the only machine I've discovered that differs from the above time line.

Thank you Larry for posting this Time Line, was going through old topics and came across this, found a link back from OWWM to this topic, very nice!

We need to work this timeline into something more robust and official, it deserves a special place, hmmm, a page, timeline application, I think I have a great idea!

Thought I'd share a set of "Delta badge timeline" designs I put together recently (for purposes of printing them as posters) —
