Do you know what Shopkins are?

Featured Replies

OK, I had no idea either. They are tiny little creatures and objects that the kids collect. Our young neighbor had a birthday and she collects them. My wife got her some and volunteered me to build a display. I ok'ed it and then found out it had to have space for 350+ OH MY. Anyway here is what I came up with, all made of of one 2x4. The smaller ones are left over scrap. Figured she could use them too, but my wife wanted one too.

Those creatures are about inch and a quarter high. I made each square inch and half square and one inch deep.

I was unable to drag and drop the pictures and had to attach

Wholly Molly! Those are some display cubes Ron! I never heard of Shopkins, that kid must have a hundreds. Ok, so how'd you build the cubby's? Half notch on each side and slip them into each other?

I cut the 2x4 into many strips,  Each one eighty wide and 4 foot long. I made a jig and used an eight inch wide blade to make the cross cuts  I found out that even as hard as you try, there is movement in one eighth pine. I was about to toss the whole project and then discovered that the cuts than weren't perfect still worked. Not only worked, but when pushed into place, they tightened the whole thing.

It worked out really well and the big display actually is strong and won't need glue. Wow. :)

Don't you just love it when things come together.

that is really nice. I though they were going to be some type of Shop Helper that slipped in at night and finished a project for you. I was gong to start looking for some.
