Another Site For Old Manuals

Featured Replies

That is very cool Lew, thanks! Love the old manuals, I would like to reproduce some of those covers and mount them on a backer-board for framing, hang in my shop!

Like a few others that sell on ebay most are reproductions that can be downloaded (for free) from the Vintage Machinery website.

I agree free is always nice. But I guarantee that our manuals are higher resolutions than most of the ones you can download, and there isn't a single greasy fingerprint, tear, hole punch, stain, or dirt on any page of any manual we sell. Plus, it's just nice to have a nice printed copy in your hand when you are working on a machine.

Either way, we understand. We do a lot more than sell manuals. We have a full metal and wood shop, and we make some the smallest inlay in the world. I've attached a picture of a duck call with 1,117 pieces of wood in it. You can read more about them and see pictures of my shop here: Robertson Duck Calls

We also have just started a blog (work in progress) to help people identify their machines and share some of my 40yrs+ experience here: Ozark Shop Talk

We try to help other wood and metal workers the best we can with all kinds of information, because we all had to start somewhere. If anyone ever has any questions about machinery or manuals, feel free to email ray@ozarkwoodworker.com. We have over 1,000 manuals online, and over another 1,500 sitting in cabinets. Hi, Ray, and thanks for the additional information.

I will make sure I mention your turning information in this week's "Wednesday's Wisdom".

Hi Ray,

Welcome to the site.

I didn't mean to come off as that all of the sellers of manuals on ebay were selling copies of manuals that can be downloaded for free.

But I have noticed more that are doing so, and I'm sure you've noticed them also.

I'll make sure to check out your site.

Fantastic inlay work!:D

Thanks, Lew.

No problem, Larry. I know exactly what you mean. And there are the guys doing nothing more than putting manuals from vintage machinery directly on CD's, or taking books from Google Book Search. We've been making manuals available for over 8 years now, and we have a lot of manuals that aren't on vintage machinery (and some of our manuals are on vintage machinery). I still learn something everyday about these old machines. We are working on a new website, and we plan to make a whole new set of machinery catalogs available for free to download. My son and I work in our shop together. He helps me out with the technical stuff, and now we are making our own CNC machines to do some of our work. But I have a lot of old Rockwell-Delta, Walker Turner, Powermatic, etc...machines in my shop. You just can't buy some new machines that are built as good as an old used machine.

Ray,

I looked at your site.

Is the W-T band saw a 14" or 16"?

Most of the machines I adopt are little more than parts machines to most people.

I need to make my own manuals for most of my Delta Specialty era machines.

I've adapted parts from later model Delta machines to replace broken/missing hard to find parts for them.

The one pictured in the slide show of my shop is a 1100 series 16" wood band saw, but I have the metal version too. There are some castings broken on the metal version, but I plan to cannibalize the wood version to make the metal one complete. Then sell off the rest of the wood version to others on my site. We plan to add a bunch of Atlas parts and some Rockwell parts I have in the shop as well. I know what you mean about adapting parts. We have to do it all the time in our shop. That's partially why I got into machinist work. That, and we needed to make new machine designs to help with our inlay work.
