July 6, 201510 yr Part 4- I shoulda… I removed the cedar liner. Cut the excess length from the leg pads to ensure the unit would set level. Sanded everything to 500 grit (300/500 using Abralon pads). Then, applied Watco Dark Walnut Danish Oil as per the instructions on the can. After it dried a couple of days, I put on several applications of BriWax dark wax. At this point, the humidor construction was about finished. The storage shelves set on runners tipped up, at the back, by 4° and little tabs in the front to prevent them from sliding forward against the door. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. There were some goofs along the way. The worst flaw is in the drawer. Making the curved strip that holds the glass in place didn’t come out very nice. I tried steam bending a ¼†x ¼†piece of walnut but it kept cracking. Next I turned to the laminated strip method. Although it worked, I did not get the bends as tight as they needed to be. I delivered it to the customer. He said he was happy. I’m not sure what kind of humidifying apparatus he is planning on using. I don’t believe I’ll make any more of these.
