Snow gauge

Featured Replies

This is in woodworking because does have wood  :D I wanted to be able to see how much snow we were getting from our sliding door out back. I got a yard stick from HD for 89 cents and glued some small wood pieces on every 2", painted them black. Then I got some greem kitchen cutting mats at the dollar store(two for 1$), cut them in 2" squares and numbered them. I glued all on with Goop because I know how it works with plasict and wood outdoors. I drove a 2x2 stake in the ground and screwed the yard stick to it. The small picture is what I see from the door.

If I lived in Boston, I'd move! :D  :)

Ron, that is cool, of course here in So Cal I'd never come up with that idea, but I wish I had a reason too. The grass is greener on the other side right? Or at least whiter on the other side. Great thinking, and creativity, you do those often it seems. My dad would come up with stuff like this too, he'd make it up as he goes, more out of a need to keep his hand busy then anything, but some cool stuff just like would come from his shop and creativity.

So what happens when it gets to 36"!

Great idea, Ron - are you going to get a patent for it?????

You need more snow.

Contact me at the phone number on the back of  my screw-ball avatar and I'll ship you as much as you need  for less than that guy in Boston is selling his snow for.

It's a great deal.

Call now.

If it was to be used in Boston, it would have to be in feet, not inches  :o
