January 10, 201511 yr Just curious, does anyone know of a website that features restored machinery for sale besides Ebay?
January 10, 201511 yr Author A lot of unrestored machinery for sure Gene, but I was curious if there was someone out there that restores them for a living, or hobby even then turns around the sells them. Shane Whitlock is out there I know, but he does work mainly on commission.
January 10, 201511 yr John, Type in used/restored woodworking machinery for a search. There are quite a few places that do this type of thing. Some sell complete restored machines, others sell off what they can in parts then scrap the rest. Alot of the ebay sellers are this way. They get a decent machine just to part it out. There is always someone trying to sell both unrestored, and restored machines on that other website. The prices are all over the place depending on location/demand.
January 10, 201511 yr Author Thanks Larry, kind of the same results I was getting with "restored woodworking machinery for sale", but your search did provide a few extras, thanks! By the way, I got a basket case Walker Turner 900 Series I am needing out of my shop. Cant' decide it I want to sell parts, or sell it all as one basket. I've seen the quill assembly alone go for 40 bucks, so I may sell on Ebay as parts, more time but more funds then selling as one, maybe?
January 11, 201511 yr Author Not too worry Gene, Larry shamed me into keeping it, he worked on me in PM's and up in the Woodshed Chat, I'm keeping it!
January 11, 201511 yr Way to go Larry! Good for you, John. Now, we're awaiting progress pictures of the restore.
January 11, 201511 yr Author Way to go Larry! Good for you, John. Now, we're awaiting progress pictures of the restore. All I needed was papa Larry to rain down his encouragement on me! See what happens Larry when your gone for life events? Your flock here strays!
January 11, 201511 yr Author Your the man Larry! The old machinery guru, the wise man of the resto's!
January 12, 201511 yr I think the Ark is in Alabama Larry. I has rained here seems like everyday since the first of December. We got to be getting close to 40 days. Glad you shamed him into it Larry. That is a nice machine that needs new life!
August 2, 201510 yr I would have restored that in a heartbeat, ive redone a dozen different drill presses, usually pretty easy
August 9, 201510 yr I think it's a thing ya gotta do yourself if ya want it done right. I don't know about right, but what's the fun in not doing it your way? Most of the machines I start with are little more than what most folks would consider parts machines or scrap when I get them.I don't do full blown original type restorations, use whatever parts I can adapt from later model machines to replace broken/missing hard to find parts.Sometimes this gives me the advantage of using later model accessories that weren't available when the machines were first made.I don't paint my old Delta's the original (Gray) colors, and add detail painting where originally there was none. But I enjoy researching what parts I can get away with using, and adapting those parts in a way that is fully reversible. Bottom line is I have fun, isn't that what it's all about?
