Hi everyone thank you for allowing me to be a part of this great site!!!

My name is Doug Pickel and i have been a plaque maker for a little over 25 years now, starting as a hobby making plaques for taxidermists my passion soon got the best of me. I became involved with a group of Veterans and then i found my calling, so i have dedicated my life to serving those who served our country and the families of the fallen. I created the Purple Heart Plaque which is built by hand strictly for GOLD STAR Families and Purple Heart Veterans, which we present these plaques with full military honors to them, these plaques, once i put them in their cover that is the last time i am allowed to touch them, they are handed off by either active duty or Veterans to the recipients, this is done to keep the integrity of the Purple Heart Medal high and in the deepest respect. I have begun selling t-shirts to raise the funding for each plaque so they all come at no cost to our Veterans or GOLD STAR Families, i tried going with corporate sponsors for each plaque and found that to be very disappointing at the support level for our Veterans. i have given my marriage, job, and home to doing this, none of which matters to me, i have to so something to to show this country that thru KINDNESS we all can help our Veterans and Families where our government falls short.Pictured are the plaques i make for our Purple Heart Veterans and GOLD STAR Families and the t-shirts i am selling on our website for $15 each, i have 3 colors, Navy, White and Black in men's sizes med - XL and ladies shirts from small to XL, all can be purchased on our website or you can message us on our facebook page WE THE PEOPLE GIVING BACK with size,color and men's or ladies t-shirt, the color for ladies are Black,White and Charcoal....

Regarding that plaque, would you be willing to describe the build process on it? Types of lumber used and how the image is secured to the center piece? It is an absolutely beautiful piece of work.
