Things Always Break At The Wrong Time

Featured Replies

Tonight I was setting up a batch of cutting boards. Got all the pieces cut for five blanks. Went to the joiner and ran all the pieces for one board then started the second and the end flew off a piece of Cherry. I reach and got the next board ran it across, looked at the side and it had four beads in it. Shut down looked at the blades and all three were chipped.

Looks like I'll be ordering new Freud blades. Bad thing is they won't get here till Monday.

Oh well I'll work on other things.

Hate it when that happens.

John,

Maybe you could slide one of the blades slightly left or right so all of the nicks aren't lined up. Might get you by until the new blades arrive.

Lew beat me to it.

If it's possible on your machine, it's an easy fix.

I wish I could. I meant to take a picture of the blade, but it is pretty wide. It really would make a nice beading tool right now.

I don't think I have enough space to move them either way that much.

I looked and I purchased these blades in July of 2012 and I have run a lot of lumber across them, so I guess it is time to replace them anyway. I can't fuss about the service I have gotten from the blades.

John

Do you have a bit that fits the height for your router? If so you can use a router table & fence to joint them. I have done this in a pinch and it worked pretty well for me.

Just a thought

slide the blades left and right a little out of alignment if you can and you can run 'e, till the new ones arrive
