September 12, 201411 yr Here we are on another Friday evening looking at a great weekend and hopefully some shop time. I will be working on the Breakfast table and a few other small projects this weekend if all holds together. Last weekend I was up early on Saturday morning buying tires for the truck and heading out to work on computers. All of that just put me a little further behind, but hey, that is the way it goes and we will catch up sooner or later. I have three cutting boards on the bench that will get the oil put on them tonight or first thing in the morning. One is to be picked up so I better get it on there tonight. Other than that for me is will just be a busy weekend and I am hoping to slip in a little Patriot Picking time also. Looking to see what jumps up and yells my name! What about all of you, what are you Patriot Woodworker plans this weekend? I know you are all figuring out the new site format, but post the pictures of your projects and share with the rest of us here at TPW what you are working on. If you need assistance in posting, please let us know and we will be glad to help you out. Some share with us what you are working on and lets have a great, safe woodworking weekend.
September 12, 201411 yr Author Sept. 9th? I even more confused now! Good Catch Larry. I had to fix that. Fingers and mind not working together.
September 12, 201411 yr That's better John, thought I was caught in some weird time warp or something! As for what I'll be doing, that will depend on the weather. It's 47° here and raining again. It's supposed to get into the high 30° range here tonight. I may get started on redoing my new old art deco desk. It needs some repairs done to the veneer, and a refinishing. Ron's sending me some small pieces of walnut to help hide the repairs. (Thank you Ron) I'm rebuilding my homebuilt computer, and it will be built into the desk. (Steampunk style) I'll also be building a Steampunk style keyboard using the keys from two Underwood typewriters that were rusted solid from having been in a flood. I've wanted one of those keyboards since I first saw Artie's on Warehouse 13, but couldn't afford what they go for. I got both of the Underwoods for $10.00.
September 12, 201411 yr I'm attending my first ever craft show. It's a very small church affair but I think it should give an idea of what type of things sell and pricing. Mimi said she wants to help. I guess I'll put her in charge of the cigar box money exchange. Larry, I can't wait to see that rig! I'm fascinated by your description of the keyboard!!
September 12, 201411 yr Dorothy and I moved into the 21st century and bought smart phones so my weekend will surround them. First by playing around with them learning the nuances of the system and I'm making a charging staion for our ipad and our iphones. Yes, I'll post a couple of pictures. What time I have left will be spent playing around here learning the new site as an admin. As John Moody mentioned, if you folks need help give us a shout and we'll help y'all out.
September 13, 201411 yr Lew, The rig itself is "Old School" technology, the motherboard is an Asus M3N72-D. The processor is an AMD Phenom II 3.0 Ghz Black edition (X4 940) I'm also using Thermaltake Orb copper fin coolers to match the copper finned coolers on the motherboard. It will be built into a custom case that will have beveled glass windows so the internals can be viewed. The keyboard will be the most time consuming part of the build, as each key has to be modified to accept the typewriter keys. My build will differ from the ones I have seen in that I'll also be using the Underwoods space bar mounting it below the keys in the standard typewriter location. I'll be building a copper and walnut frame for it to go with the copper coolers, and walnut art deco desk.

September 15, 201411 yr Author Well I got a little woodworking in on Saturday morning. I got the curves cut on the legs and supports for the breakfast table. I also got this maple shadow box cut out and glued. I should get the glass by Tuesday and get it finished. I also finished these two polka dot cutting boards. How did the rest of you do, get any patriot woodworking in?
September 15, 201411 yr You guys have been busy and I feel like a slacker. All I did this weekend was throw a little stain and finish on a charging station.
September 15, 201411 yr Author Nice cutting boards, John. What wood did you use for the dots? Lew I used Maple and Cherry for the dots. I turned the dowels in two sizes. On is a 1/2" and the other is 7/16"
September 15, 201411 yr Well I guess I just totally spaced this post this weekend sorry. I'll try to do better LOL Anyway, there wasn't much done this weekend from here, kind of felt like crud until this morning. However, I did get a fair size order for some seem rippers and a fire starter, so I started on that. Using a piece of very wormy pecan for the handle of the fire starter. the image here is of the handle just as I am getting a good shape so it still needs a bit of sizing and a hole drilled for the cord. I am so not used to this image upload yet LOL. So I hope this works. And of course it didn't by trying to just copy the link over so i will just drag and drop the image.
