Dear Woodworker,

Master

carver Peter Follansbee was at my workshop in Waldoboro, Maine, last week to

shoot his first DVD with Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, on low-relief, 17th century

style wood carving. Though we've produced many DVDs on various woodworking

topics, carving is new material for us, and we're anxious to share it with you

all!

Peter Follansbee has been specializing in 17th century reproduction

furniture for about 20 years. Currently Peter displays his craft at historic

Plimoth Plantation, in Plymouth, MA, carving low-relief decoration for furniture

that early 17th century colonists would have imported into New England. His work

follows techniques and methods from the period, and all work is done exclusively

with hand tools. We'll keep you posted on the release date for Peter's DVD,

later on this year.

Don't forget about our Hand Tool EventT at The

Furniture Institute of Massachusetts, in Beverly, MA, this weekend! Details are

here: http://www.lie-nielsen.com/?pg=63 ,

and more upcoming Hand Tool EventsT are listed below.

*THIN PLATE

DOVETAIL SAW*

The Dovetail Saw we've made for many years has a .020"

thick saw plate. Our newest Dovetail Saw has a .015" saw plate. As a result this

saw, with the same number of teeth, cuts extremely fast and precisely. Set is

.003" per side, 15 ppi rip cut, Curly Maple handle. To order your Thin Plate

Dovetail Saw, please visit our website: http://www.lie-nielsen.com/catalog.php?sku=DS

*NEW

WEBSITE*

Lie-Nielsen Toolworks has just launched the beta version of what

will soon be our new website! Among the improved features, there's a search

option, instructional video clips, wish lists and a much more convenient

ordering process we hope our customers will like. Please test it out and let us

know what you think! Your feedback is greatly appreciated: https://beta.lie-nielsen.com/

*NEW YOUTUBE VIDEO*

Deneb Puchalski demonstrates his

favorite technique for re-establishing the primary bevel on your cutting tools

by hand. If you get a nick on your blade or your secondary bevel grows to a

point that the speed you can sharpen diminishes, it is time to re-establish the

primary bevel. The technique Deneb uses is fast and effective, giving you a lot

of control without the risk of over-heating your blade. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/user/LieNielsen
