August 3, 201015 yr Anyone here done it?? I saw some really awesome lampshades turned wet, can't remember where, but I am very interested in the concept. What say you's?
August 3, 201015 yr You can turn anything wet, but when you remove stick that contains wet material it will wrap as it dries. Just as it would if you built furniture from wood that is not dried. Usually you turn it close to the finished size, set it aside until it is dry then finish turning it. John
August 3, 201015 yr Sorry about the spelling of some of the words, I replied to that from my Droid. I thought I was watching the spelling better. Sometimes it tries to hard to figure out what I am trying to type. I don't even know what I am typing sometimes. August 4, 201015 yr Author Thanks guys, I need to get a lathe, you guys are just having too much fun. This is what I picture life with a lathe as, coming home from a long days work, chucking a piece of wood up, and just making sawdust, no planning, no idea of what will turn out from it. Just a really neat stress reliever. A candle holder in 10 minutes? A small bowl in an hour? I am really gearing up the ol mind to pull the trigger on a lathe. Thanks for your feedback.
August 4, 201015 yr You got it right John, It is a great stress reliever. Sometimes it is just fun to actually make something when you get home from a tough day at the office. I really love building furniture, but this gives me that instant satisfaction. You won't regret getting one when you start turning. John
