August 15, 201015 yr  Well this have been being discussed on several other forums so I finally got a chance to give it a try myself. While I was waiting on a glue up to dry today I turned on.  This uses a Bic pen as the kit. Just purchase a standard bic pen and pull out the pen part that has the tube with the ink.  I turned the on the drill bit, a 5/32. Cut the blank long enough so you still have a closed end I brought up the tail stock just to keep it steady  So here is my attempt with a piece of walnut I had. It is finished with blo/ca, 6 coats and buffed.  Not bad for .20.  Â
August 15, 201015 yr Nice John!!!! Beautiful work man, ok, now I am chomping at the bit, I need a lathe!!!!!!!!!
August 15, 201015 yr Author You need a lathe, It is the best therapy. You can just grab a piece of wood and make something while you are waiting on something else. It is a lot of fun.
August 15, 201015 yr John Moody you do know that you may be responsible for sending Courtland spinning down the vortex. "You need a lathe, It is the best therapy" That statement may very well put his family in therapy too. I know my wife almost had me committed yesterday. I was at the lathe, dripping sweat, and she asked why was I doing it. I said because it's so fun. She just rolled her eyes and went back into the air condition house.
August 15, 201015 yr Author I know Greg, but I can't help it. I am trying to draw as many into this addition with me that I can. I don't want to be by myself. LOL. I really like to see that wood spin and the chips fly. Josh I know what you mean. Sometimes though I seem to neglect the shop. It is a good thing to work on it sometimes instead of just in it.
