RJW America

Featured Replies

Good Morning Friends,

Today we are about to start RJW America ( Ralph Jones America ) and since Norm Abram is no longer doing the New Yankee Workshop, Ihave been asked if I would care to be syndicated and oday we are having a meeting at the home of a client who and where we will be doing our version of This Old House on a Federal style home about 1/2 mile south of good old London, Ohio.

I will be taking pictures of this old home and we will be making videos and DVDs for sale to any and all interested in our program.

Here are some pictures of the house before it was damaged before a storm that damaged portions of the home.

We will be starting by removing the portion of the porch that a would be contractor tried to remodel but, didn't know what he was doing for he even ran 2 x 4 rafters and the way he constructed the mess would not have allowed for built in gutters as there are in these old pictures.

A lot of the work will be done at my shop and prefabbed and then anchored to the structure in three different combinations to once again restore the home to it's original state. Later today I will be posting some of the pictures of the mess he left the porch in.

Respectfully,

Ralph

This should have been RJW America (Ralph Jones Woodworking America) rather than what I covered in thebody of the first post. However I am sure you will get the idea.

Here is the forth one;

And now the last picture of what not to do when trying to construct a roof framing.

Well, Folks as you can see there is nothing in the previous pictures that meet or would b passed by a building inspector and not only that he never even submitted for a building permit.

Now this house is the one we are going to be doing our version of This Old House and segments of our work will be on DVDs for folks to buy and ride along with us as we venture down the road of RJW America. ( Ralph Jones Woodworking America).

Thanks for looking.

Ralph

Look forward to following the new segment.

Hello John,

I am hoping that there will be many followers of these segments for we will be showing in some cases step by step movements while making the definite assembly of said construction. This house is going to be one of grandure when complete both outside and in. The center portion of the front porch has dropped at least 1 1/2" back to front and the would be contractor didn't think to level it back up before trying to rebuild the side roofs. It falls under the category of being registured in the National Registury of Historic Houses.

The sad part is that over the years someone tried to convert the Federal architecture to Victorian and we are going to return it to it's original design.

Ralph
