Jewelery box done

Well here is the finished product. There were so many flaws in the original that I had to cut a half inch off the lid and case. That was NOT easy, I had to use double face tape, tape it to a large straight board and then cut it.  The top where you see the yellow stripes, did have dark stripes and one entire end of the lid had to be removed and replaced.  That required new color stripes, which I could not match. So I didn't try and used Yellow Hart instead.
 Now for the flocking. It was NOT easy. I had bad and missed spots. While touch up is possible, I didn't care for that.  I think my mistakes were caused by;

1. Covering too large of an area with the adhesive, before I flocked.
2. The adhesive was too think and I should have thinned it.

 The case is old and parts of the top and drawer are all new cherry and don't match the rest very good.
That is OK, my daughter loves it.

Down loading pictures is still a hit/miss thing. Today I could only down load a photo file??????????

Hey Ron,

That is magnificent and unless you wold have said something about the bad luck you had it does not show in the pictures.

Now speaking of pictures, I learned that at the top of this reply is a little black box that looks like a camera, so when I place my cursor on it and click it a window will open up and you will read browse. click on it and choose the picture you wish to show such as your jewelry box. I demonstrate;

Well I'm sure you can tell all of the problems, but from where I sit, it looks really good.

You did a really good job of making the repairs that needed to be made and if I didn't know there were difference in the cherry i would have thought you just used contrasting woods.

I like the stripes and the handles on the front.

and the flocking looks good. I haven't used it before so I couldn't really answer you post, but I am glad to hear about it and see how it came out. I had seen it but just never used it.

Looks good and hey most of all you made the most important person happy.

Thanks Ralph, that is something I didn't know. I should have read more. Seems silly to have 2 ways of putting pictures in 2 locations that do 2 different things. One inserts the actual picture you want and the other inserts an unopened file.

Lookin good Ron. And thanks for the photo tip Ralph.

Ron, when you create a post, you will see three browse buttons at the bottom. Those are for uploading files only, PDF, docs, etc. It is very handy when you have a PDF to show the gang since you can't upload a PDF in a photo viewer. Our forum is one of the few forums where you can actually load a file into your post!

Baby steps men, baby steps.
