September 4, 201015 yr Good Evening Friends,Well it appars that I am so busy being retired that I'll have to get me a job someplace so I can rest a bit. Today was yet another busy day in the shop for I changed the Wood Master from the cutter head with the trim profile in it for the trim I am making and installed the three saw blades on the shaft and set them so I could gang rip cherry lumber for the base trim I am making for my friend and client. After I loosened the cutter head you could cut washers off my hemroids for that darned thing is heavy but, I got her out. Then I inserted the shaft and slid the blades on and left them loose till I got the shaft anchored as per the manual. Then I set the first blade where it would take a small edge off any board I ran through and then 3 1/2" over I set the next blade and then the third in the same manner. Then I set up some guides so the boards would run straight however with the different widths in the boards the left guide was fixed while the clamps I use on the right were just to help hold the boards straight. I gang sawed 360 lineal foot of base blanks and when that was done I dismanteled the saw blades and put the cutter head back in and got everything ready and ran one board through until I achieved the desired setting and quit for the day. So all together I guess I had about nine hours in the shop today. Whew, I'm tire just typing about it. Then it is so much fun to come in and set right down with anice cold glass of water and come to the best darned forums on the internet but, don;t let WOOD know about it. As Gary would say hee hee that a goodern. Well, I guess I flapped my yapper for enough today so you all have a great evening and a good holiday. You already know where I'll be. Â
September 4, 201015 yr Ralph, how is the change over on the Woodmaster, as easy as the videos show it? And, yep, this is the place to kick your toes up and chat and post, glad your havin fun here.
September 4, 201015 yr Author Hi John, The hardest part is taking the drive belts off the pulley so you can remove the pulleys then the end of the cutter head just lifts out but you want to eat your Wheaties before you try it. One thing I forgot to mention was to set some 2 x blocks under the cutter head and raise the bed so the block just hold the cutter head solid and the same hold true when putting the cutter head back in. Those videos are nice if you have one but all I have is the manual and they always make it look easy but, it could e trying at times.
