Making a planer blade Honing Jig

Featured Replies

Making a planer blade honing jig. I know a couple of guys that use this jig and they claim it work pretty well.

Still can't get this embed thing to work.

Looks like you got the video to come up Richard! I edited your post and got rid of the html code that was above the video. So what did you do that made the video appear? Do you remember the way you held your cup of coffee at the time? Perhaps the way you sneezed when you hit enter.Grin.gif

To be honest, I don't know what I did.

Excellent, that is very ingenious. Takes the guess work out of the angles.

I'm thinking of making one of these jig (when I find time) and using a piece of glass and sand paper (like the scary sharp system) and see what happens, I have a 1/2 thick piece of glass.

So, what you are thinking then is inverting the jig and using the jig as the moving part and keeping the glass stationary? Good idea. Or, are thinking of securing some abrasive to the glass and keeping the jig stationary. Inquiring minds want to know!

Yes, invert the jig and move the jig over the glass. I think the glass would be to awkward to move over the jig.
