October 8, 201015 yr The two tall cabinets, (refrigerator and the oven) has to have veneer put on the exposed ends. This was a special order I got form Monster Wood Shop who had to do a special run for the two sheets. So I guess I'll leave the spray area setup and finis the veneered sides before I take it down. Â
October 11, 201015 yr Hey Richard, can you explain special order on this? I am guessing in it's simplest explanation, they had to weld two panels together to make on big one? THanks
October 11, 201015 yr Author By special order I mean, I looked all over the internet looking for Blood Wood veneer. I spent several days doing this and nobody stocked it anywhere I looked. The I went over to the woodweb and ask the pros if anyone knew where I could get it. The administrators at woodweb moved my post to another section of the forum where you post '' stuff" you're looking for and manufactures/suppliers watch this and then contact you if they can help. a few days later I was emailed by a person from from Monster Wood Shop telling me they could make it for me. Meaning the don't normally make and stock blood wood veneer. They said to make sure I order enough for my project because the don't always have blood wood on hand as it's getting harder to get. I got one other offer from another company who said they could also make it for me the the price was quite a bit more than the Monster Wood Shop would make it for. You can't tell from the picture but that veneer is plain slice, not rotary cut.
October 11, 201015 yr It's pretty stuff Richard, now if you don't mind answering one more question, what does something like this cost? It's one hockey sticks of a sheet of veneer!
October 11, 201015 yr Author I bought two 4x8 sheets. It was 175.00 peer sheet plus 90.00 shipping from New York to my door. The other company's quote was 350.00 a sheet plus shipping. Here's it is laid up or what ever the term is.
