Pen Blanks

Featured Replies

What is the ideal pen blank size?

3/4" x 3/4" by 5" is what most of them are.

Thanks John.

Jumbo blanks are 1" x 1" x 5". It really depends on the size of the tube you intend to use. 7mm tubes work well with a blank as little as 5/8" x 5/8". However, I really wouldn't want to try to drill a 37/64" hole in a 5/8" blank.

Is pen turning in your future John?

It is Greg! But not in the near future, I have alot of scrap lumber I need to clear out of my shop, and I was thinking about ripping it down to pen blanks and giving it to the guys around here. It would be way more then I could ever use.

Not to hijack this thread but:

Joshua, have you ever turned Blood Wood pens?

That's exactly what I was working towards. Private message me your mailing address and I'll get some off to you.

No sir I havne't, and if you're working towards an offer for some of your scrap I'd be happy to pay for the shipping, send something to you in trade, whatever you would like to do.
