October 19, 201015 yr I had the good fortune of coming across enough slightly used (more dirty than used) link belting to replace the drive belts on most of my equipment.A quick install on my table saw showed a grat improvement in power transfer and in noise reduction.now to my question... I have a 16" jet drill press with the dual belts that you move to adjust speeds. Is there any benefit or drawback to installing link belts on this machine?
October 19, 201015 yr Link belts are much quieter IMO. If your Jet DP had some rattle to it, that will disappear, you'll just hear the whir of the motor. As far as power goes, not sure John.
November 24, 201015 yr Just the information I need. Just bought a link belt to put on my table saw and was also wondering about putting them on my drill press. Thanks guys you made up my mind and I'm ordering 2 more of them tomorrow. Bev. Taylor the LOL woodworker
November 24, 201015 yr Author I did put them on my DP and Jointer. While I haven't een able to use them much since I have noticed an improvment in how the equipment runs. I hope to have more shop time in the next few weeks so I'll really get to see/feel them in action.

November 24, 201015 yr John, John, John. You got a get over this formal ''stuff''. I think I finally got you down to calling me Rich instead of "sir". Like Dragon 1 said in another post "I feel we ought to be just like a bunch of guys/gals meeting over at somebodies garage (yours!!) and just shooting the breeze, having a beer or a soda and chewing the fat." There's not much room for sir and madam it that setting. Beverly, keep on him, he's a fast learner and it wont' take him long to get it right. br /> The American Woodworker said: Of course!!! November 27, 201015 yr ROFLMAO!!!!! Maam might have worked John, as well as Ms. I've bought the link belts and the matching pulleys for 2 craftsman saws. Didn't see any real difference that justified it.
