Dust Collector Remote

Featured Replies

I have one of those dust collector remotes on my dust collector. Saturday I was planing some lumber for cutting boards, had on my headphones and noticed chips coming from the planner. Shut down, took off the headphones and my dust collector had stopped.

I went over and checked and it wasn't hot or anything. Checked the breaker on the plug and it was okay. I plugged it into another outlet and still wouldn't fire up. I unplugged the DC from the remove and turned it on and it started right up.

I checked the breaker reset on top of the remote and it won't re-set but it isn't popped up either. I can press the remote control button and here it click in the remote base. No idea what happened, it was running when I started planing and it just stopped in the middle of the operation. I ran the DC by walking over and turning it on or off by the switch on the DC the rest of the afternoon.

So anyone got any ideas on the remote. I got it I guess two years ago at Woodcraft. No idea what kind of warranty it has. They were about 39.00 when I got mine. They are now 69.00.

okay I figured out what was wrong with the remote.

On the inside there was a piece on the back of the plug where you plug in the DC that was soldered to the circuit board. It had apparently gotten hot and melted the solder and came loose from the circuit board. So I am not sure when it got hot unless this was already loose somehow. I ran the DC for a while tonight and the cord didn't get hot where it was plugged into the wall.

Going to see if I can get someone to re-solder the connector and see if it works. If not, I guess I will be shopping for a new one.

I guess it is always something....

Glad you found it out John, I never would have guessed that, specially since I don't own a remote. While we are on the subject of remotes, which one do you have?

This is the one that I have. It has been good and it saves a lot of steps.

Wow Josh, thanks. If a friend of mine can't fix it here I will certainly give you a shout. You are the man.

I was going to say that it sounds like there's just an open somewhere in the box if you still heard the relay click when you pressed the button. If you can't find anyone local to fix it send it to me and I'll do it for you before you go out and get another one.
