October 26, 201015 yr I got the nightstand project finished and brought them home today. She seems to like them so I guess I did ok on them, but I know where the spots are that I would have done differently. I don't have a place to spray so the finish is Golden Oak with three coats of polyurethane brushed on. The brushing goes slow, but it does give you an a heavier finish, and I managed to not end up with any runs. I think she's going to want me to start on the bed next, not sure how that's going to go but I guess I'll give it a try.
October 26, 201015 yr Those look good Roy. As with any project we always find something we would've done in a different manner.
October 27, 201015 yr Author This plan was in Wood Magazine. In other issues there were plans for the bed and several other pieces to make the whole set. My wife also wants me to do a couple more of these to use in the living room also. Gene Howe said:Really nice Roy.What type/style of bed are you planning?
October 27, 201015 yr Wow Roy those look great. Outstanding job on the woodworking and the finishing. Yep it will now be on to the other pieces. You'll be doing the bed, the chest and the blanket chest. Somebody is going to be busy during the holidays. We will be waiting to see the whole set together.
October 27, 201015 yr Nice work Roy! The end table in the foreground, is showing off some very nice grain, and good job on you for paying attention to grain the way you did, it really shows in the overall the view. Flowing and good geometry, excellent job my man!
