Missed the Wood Working Show for the first time in a long time

Featured Replies

Well, I missed the Wood Working Show in Costa Mesa, CA this weekend. It is the first time in a number of years that I missed a local show. I had been sick this past week and was wiped out with bronchitus and spent most of Friday on the couch. Saturday I helped my son move into his first apartment and then went to the Saturday night church service. This morning we had to meet with my future in-laws for breakfast to chat and discuss wedding plans for our kids (February 26th 2011) and then stop by church in the evening for our yearly "Harvest Festival" which is an outreach to the community with all kinds of games and food with a Christian influence as opposed to typical scary halloween stuff. Both of my kids worked it this year and we had an amazing turn out.

While I was bummed about missing the wood working show, it is ok as I didn't have much in the way of extra funds to spend and really didn't have any specifc tool or supplies that I have been in need of. But I did miss hooking up with a few of my online woodworking friends.

Too bad that due to the economy we only have 1 wood working show in the Los Angeles/Orange County area now instead of 2 like we used to have. Oh well, such is life.

I didn't go either Allen. I was just too dang busy, not to mention it just flew by me otherwise I would have looked you up. Yep, we used to have a show that stopped by Pomona Fairplex didn't we?

As my kids get a little older, it seems they have so much stuff to do on the weekends, orchestra, softball, school functions, and it all hit us hard this weekend. So I don't know if I could have pulled away anyway.

Stay healthy Allen, sounds like that bronchitis is bear with you.

They didn't even schedule one in our area. The closest is in Atlanta which is five hours away or I could go to Indy which is about as far if not a little further. The past two years there was one in Nashville at the Opryland Hotel but it was flooded last year and they have just opened back up for business.

Last year it was in Huntsville, AL but it was a bad weather weekend here with tornado's in the area so the attendance was low.

I don't know of anything I have to have, but I just like to go look, touch and drool over what I don't have.
