Recycling an old desk

Featured Replies

I picked up an old Oak desk that was a "free, just take it" bargain. I used it after some repair and later then replaced it with a nice one. I was reluctant to toss it out and salvaged what good Oak I could find. The top was solid, but full of holes and repairs. I have used some of the wood for small projects and my wife wanted me to make a small table out of some of it. I used the slide out Oak panels for the top and the rest came out of the top. The Oak don't match, but it does look nice. The top is 12"X12"
She likes it......so I guess it is OK.

Ron that is a nice save and I can see why she likes it, it looks great. Nice proportions all around. Is this the table you were asking about wrapping the top? I like the top and the lip on the edging is a nice touch.

It is always better to salvage a piece of wood than let it go to the landfill.

Yes,this is the one. It was going to be about 12" x 16", but my planer messed it up. She is actually happier with the smaller version. Being small, I just used glue on the edges, but used dowels in the cross supports going into the legs.

Nice design, Clean and purty!!!

That gets an ATTABOY!!!!!!
