 I have made several things like this. You can't call it wood work, all I did with the wood working part was to cut it out with the band saw. I don't think you could classify it as "arts and crafts"  I don't think it could be considered as "art" although I had enough time in it that I could never make any money selling them. I have seen vendors sell similar items, made for other purposes. Is there a classification for these kind of things?

I could be wrong but I'd call it ''crafts" work and I'd  call it wood working.

 Since my first post I looked "crafts" up in the dictionary. One of the entries said "skill or ability, esp in handiwork".
