Good Morning Friends,

 This morning with the temperature at 9º above 0º we are planning of going to the house on State Route 38, which is the one built in 1780 and our taping will be the raising of the existing veranda up 1 1/2 to once again level the structure so we can anchor it to the wall of the building and install a new pair of posts.

I am not aware of the chill factor this mortning but we are going to dress for it anyway.

So that those of you who have not seen the picture of the veranda I am posting a picture of it as well as the wings that now no lionger exist for we have removed them to make the lifting easier.

Now for the pictures;

This is showing the section I am talking about with the right portion removed. Now so you can get a mental picture of what I have done in prepetory work is that I have placed two 4 x 4 12' on a diagonal at the front and mounted hinges on the post and front of the veranda on each side of the load bearing beams so that as we raise the veranda they will move inward and provide bracing support on the front of the structure. Also at the back next to the house and under the beam I have wedged a 4 x 4 x 9' on both sides so the back of the structure will be supported and less likely to fall straight down or come loose.

Good luck with the work ahead today. Try to stay warm and we look forward to seeing this taping as soon as it is available.
