Rocking Chair Parts

Featured Replies

Tonight I got the all the chair parts cut out, after a ton of layouts, starts and stops, and re-layouts, the chair will start taking shape in the next couple weeks.

You can see the rear legs laying on the bench at the left, they are the curved looking figures. The front legs are standing on end between the two rear legs. To the right of those is the seat with the light wood coursing down the center, nothing is glued up yet, just sitting there looking like a bunch of billets. Sitting on the seat on either side are the arms. Then to the rear of the seat are the headrest billets. Then to the far right are the rocker billets and the back brace billets. It might not make a whole lot of sense at this point, but we'll be seeing it look familiar shortly here.

Thanks for looking

Looks like things are shaping up nicely ! Your contrasts should make a beautiful presentation in the finished piece .

Thanks Rob!

How's your kiln running these days, ready for a new batch yet? I have two chairs back to back to build now that I have your beautiful Walnut waiting in the wings.

Thanks for the update and pictures. Looks like you're getting a good start. Can't wait to see all that wood transform in a chair. I know it's going to be beautiful.

That layout looks like it will be an exciting chair.

Does the side of the bottom under the arms have any of the sap wood on the edge?

Glad you were able to get it all going.
