Messed around with my router last weekend and made a small bowl for our friends whose house we will be celebrating the change of the year this coming Friday.ning-1228002023a-50827-76.jpg?width=750

Hey John, that is alright. Did you make the pattern to route it?

Is that walnut? What did you finish it with?

I like it, very original.

You will most likely get orders for more. It looks great and is a cool gift.

Do you have to do anything to lacquer to make it food safe or is it food safe right on the wood? I know I have seen this somewhere but can't seem to remember.

I seem to be having that problem a lot more these days.Smile.gif

John, I have read numerous times that all film finishes, once dry, are food safe. Many people/manufacturers use lacquer for tables, utensil handles, bottle stoppers and many other items used in and around food prep areas. So I have no concern about food safety issues, durability is where I have uncertanties.

That was my thought, I just couldn't remember if there was one you shouldn't use.

I Know shellac is okay.

Thanks

John
