December 29, 201015 yr When you purchase new tools like routers, drills, air nail gun and other tools they come in these nice molded plastic boxes. When you bring these into the shop and get them out of the nice molded plastic box, what do you do with the plastic box. Do you put the tool back in the molded plastic box when it is not in use? Do you save the nice molded plastic box? Â
December 29, 201015 yr John I have about 8 or 10 boxes under my shelving unit now. I just can't bring my self to throw the out. When I travel with my tools I use tool bags I have one for plumbing ,electrical, carpentry so depending on what I am working on I just grab and go.
December 29, 201015 yr In the past our neighbor kid was in to RC Cars in a big way. One day I asked him if he wanted one of my PC Router cases, he loved it, he took his dremel tool and cut it out to custom fit his RC car parts. I have given a few to him since, but he is all grown up now, in college. I have about 4 more since those days, they are stacked in a corner out of the way. If we ever move from our home I might use them to pack the sanders and routers back into them. But like Mark, I just can't bring myself to toss em.
December 29, 201015 yr Author Yeah, that seems to be me also. I have them under the bench, on top of the cabinets and everywhere I can find to put one I think is out of the way. I am beginning to get quite a collection and I would really love to have the space. I guess they will go to the attic of the shop next. I was wondering if anyone ever sent them to re-cycle?
December 29, 201015 yr Ironic you should ask this now,a week or two ago I picked up some drawer cabinets and am in the process of re-organizing my shop. my tools had been staying in their original boxes until now. my most used will now be moving to the drawers and thier cases are being relocated to the rafters. The tools used less often will remain in thier cases on a side sheling unit I built shortly after moving into the garage I call my shop or maybe its my shop I call the garage. I'll need to reseach that one.
