January 4, 201115 yr  I had one of those restless nights and was wide awake at 4 am. I got up and turned on the TV and went through the channels and saw one paid advertiser after another. Then I went through our pps stations, we have 4 or more. One had a big surprise for me. It was called something like "American woodturner" It was a really great program featuring a project or two and how to do them.  Have any of you seen this program? I can't remember the name correctly and tried to find it on Google, but can't. I'd like to see more, but not at 4am.
January 5, 201115 yr I have seen the show a couple times. It usually came on here in West Tennessee on my cable provider's national PBS channel. I have looked for it since and can't find it. My local PBS doesn't carry it at all.  I really liked the show. It seemed geared more for the beginner to intermediate wood turner. I wasn't intimidated by any of the projects on any of the episodes I watched. I saw an episode by David Marks once. The hollow form he turned was bigger than any lathe I own. I could picture myself doing the projects demonstrated on The American Woodturner. I could not even afford the wood turned on the David Marks show.
January 5, 201115 yr I checked here and it is not listed on the PBS station I get off DirectTV. I agree with Greg about the show David Marks did. I know the one you are talking about that was the big hollow form. Interesting to see, but no chance I am going to be doing that. Our PBS station doesn't carry many woodworking type shows. I have called but didn't get much response. There was one on DIY several years ago Woodturning Basics I think. It was pretty much a beginner show but some good basics covered.Â
January 5, 201115 yr Author I suppose it could have been an old rerun, much as Norm. He is still on and probably will be for some time to come. I did find this link, Woodturners Workshop  http://www.woodturner.org/resources/pbs/         Wood Turning on PBS.John Moody said:I checked here and it is not listed on the PBS station I get off DirectTV. I agree with Greg about the show David Marks did.
