Just a quick note to let y'all know who I am. I live in western Oregon on top of a small mountain near Portland. We sit at about 1400' elevation so we see a fair share of snow. The down side of living at this elevation in western Oregon is most of the time we are IN the clouds. I own a log sided home that I sided my self and we are re-doing the interior like a real log home. This is what sent me here. I have lots of questions and hopefully some answers also. Thanks for having me!!

Well welcome to The American Woodworker Bob! We have some great folks here that might be able to help out with your log home. And with your experience in building a log home, I bet you'll have plenty of answers for us too. Looking forward to possibly seeing some pics of your log home build as well if you got em.

Thanks for introducing yourself Bob and thanks for being here.

Good Morning Bob,

Welcome aboard and we hope you continue coming back for there is a raft of folks on here to help you along with your project. Personally I think there is nothing prettier than a log cabin home with the natural log finish on the inside as well as the outside. One should make sure the chinking is sealed well so no air is able to float through the chinking and the windows and doors are insulated well also.

It is so warm and comfortable with a relaxing fire in the fireplace with the lights turned down low or even turned off for that matter and the glow of the fire to light the room and especially when you have your love sitting beside you on the couch.

A nice cup of chocalate in your hand to sip as you snuggle together is a good heart warming occurance to be had.

Now getting away from the romantic side of the situation anything you need help on there are several on these forums who are more than willing to help you with most any question you might have.

Welcome to the board Bob.  These guys don't have all of the answers but they have most of them.  They wing the rest.  Smile.gif

Welcome aboard, I'm new here myself but feel right at home.   We used to live in Troutdale and and have a Daughter and her family residing near Mount Hood.

Welcome Bob! I'm new here myself and live north of Vancouver WA. After viewing the project photos here I feel  like I'm out of my league but hope to learn alot here. This is one great website.

Welcome aboard Bob, Please jump in and make your self at home.

I too feel out of my league but I am always open to learn new things! I also have some built in bookcases that I plan to tackle down the road a bit...
