My plan is to make a pen for a retired Sargent Major USMC Ret.  The idea I had was to make it to resemble a K-Bar knife handle.  This blank is my first attempt.  It is scrap leather with grooves colored with black paint.  The brown is enhanched with Sharpie marker.  It is finished with a bunch of thin CA and Ren wax.  Gosh the picture is awful.  Please don't hold that against me.

What do you guys think?  Would it do a Sgt Major justice?

Greg, the handle is great. It looks like a well used K-Bar handle. And the gloss finish is just a nice touch that I am sure your Sargent Major will appreciate. The fact that the blade is missing from your concept is amazing, what a brilliant idea to just do the handle of the KBar. No doubt your Sargent Major has been around a bit, and leaving out the lethal part of the weapon will be a nice touch. I love it man, great job, and great concept!

I came in contact with a few Sargent Major's in my lifetime, and they were all laid back, always asked how we were doing, and they had a low tolerance for ignorant officers! Huah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or as you Marines might say, Ooorah!

Great job Greg.

Greg it looks great to me. I like the concept you have come up with.

Thanks guys.  I have to come up with components for it now.  Most K-bars are black.  I think a black titanium kit might do the trick.
