I hope this works. I don't see the photo displayed.

This is a cherry entertainment center (lower portion) that I just completed. Got the plan off the internet. The section you see here is in three pieces and if it were just one...........it would be almighty heavy.

Thanks for look'n.

Wow Gary

This is an amazing entertainment center, fantastic design and outstanding build. Beautiful work

Wow, Gary, that is beautiful. Excellent job on the woodwork and the finish. That is a top quality piece. Love the hardware.

What are the panels in the middle section, glass?

Very well done sir!!!

What they said Gary. Plus notice how the grain and color are very even for cherry. Good work man.

Hey, thanks guys. It was a fun a fun build. Like I said.........I got the plan off the internet..........and I'd like to take credit for the hardware...........but the plan suggested this style. The part I am so happy with is the miter joints. Every one is a perfect fit, except the one in the little jog there in the forground. But even that one has to be studied to see the very slight gap. The door and drawer panels are all mortise an tenon and the drawer boxes are that half lap drawer joint. Can't remember the name of the joint. But not the lock miter.

John.........yes, the center panels are a smoked glass. I thought that would add a little class other than a clear glass.

Hello Gary,

The pieces are outstanding and I like the location of the group for it looks great along the safety barrier of the stair way.

Did you finish the backs so they would look nice as someone coming up the stairs would notice the nice finish on them?

Ralph.........The plan I had was to set it along that hand rail, so, I wanted the back the finished too. I went all out and used 1/4" cherry ply for the back.

Edit:  You now get a good view of the rats nest in the back.    :-)     I think I'll look and see is I can find one of them cable hiding tubes.

Hi Gary,

That looks great, now to take care of the wires. Bundle them together as best you can and then make out of any scrap cherry you have left a box like and place it over the cables so only a little will show and then even that can be taken care of if you run a horizontal base cove so it is above the one on the bottom of the case. That is after you unwrap the one around the baluster.

Ralph

Another option to corral those wire is to head to an auto parts store and get some corrgated plastic wire sleeves

Nice Job Gary!!!

Instaed of running them outside the cabinet you might want to use a right angle drill and make a 1 inch hole on the inside of the cabinets back in the corner so you can run the wires inside up an down to the tv and vcr/dvd and stereo.

Just a suggestion. LOL

Ralph........your a trouble maker!!!! Nobody seen that mess till you mentioned it!!!!3.gif And nobody but me......after posting the photo...........and then you...........noticed the one cord outside the baluster.Grin.gif

John.........that's kinda what I was think'n about. A cord organizer..........and that may just be it. Thanks

Dragon........there is suppose to be an upper portion to this cabinet.............and it's suppose to be bolted to the lower set. I guess what I am saying is, I'm not crazy about drilling holes that may in the future come back to haunt me.

Hey Gary,

I'm still laughing about your comment of being a trouble maker, for some reason I see things the many others don't until it is pointed out.

Ralph

I really like that, well done. The design is quite tasteful, the workmanship excellent!

Hi Fred,

Good to see you replying and I hope to see you at the Columbus Woodworking show this year for it will be the first week end in February. I will be doing an interview of Jim Heavey on my video for RJW America show.
