Yes it seems so. My computer is a dell desktop that I have had for about 5 years. It has 500 gig hard drive and I really like it. I may end out replacing it, if the cost is too high for repair. I an thinking about a laptop or pad to replace it with.  I am going to set tight.  Downloading my pictures will be a chore on my old Laptop, it is so slow and limited on space. A few years ago I got a PC clone drive wiith 100 gigs storage, it auto backed up everything, so all is still there.

It is good that you had it all backed up and didn't loose anything. I can be a pain when it is lost and no way to get it back without spending a lot of money.

I use a laptop all the time at home and really like the portability.

Hey Ron, I'm uessing that you're using XP right now.  If you go to a new PC you'll be getting Windows 7.  My son said there's a real learning curve to 7.  Also, most new systems are 64 bit and you'll have to seach for new 64 bit device drivers.  You may want to go out to Dell and look at their refurbs.  You get a great system for a little less money.

I don't know what Ron D. just said, but I should have my new dell laptop here just any day now. I hope there ain't no learn'n curve..........cuz I don't know what I'm doing on this 6 to 7 yr old laptop!!!

I have Vista and have never cared for it. I'm told that windows 7 is much much better. My wife has it on her notebook and she had no trouble with it. I must also say that she don't use it for many things that are complex. I would rather keep what I have now, if the expense isn't too much. I'm told that if the repair costs half of a new one, don't repair.......buy new.  However my son-in-law is a computer expert and site developer and he will do some trouble shooting. I will follow his advise.
