January 23, 201115 yr Good Morning Friends,Yesterday my friend and associate Todd Flannery brought a piece of cherry to plane down for some short shelves in a cabinet. I didn't notice anything different in the wood till we planed it some and found tiger stripes in the grain and when I looked at the end of the board I found that it was quarter sawn.I took a paper towel and applied some mineral spirits on it and wiped the wood and he stated "Wow, that is great." You hardly ever see quarter sawn cherry but he exclaimed that he would have his sawyer to cut all of his cherry in that manner. I wish I had taken a picture of it. The shelves will truly look great when he puts them into the cabinet. Ralph
