Rip Thin Strips without moving the fence or a jig;

Featured Replies

Good Evening Friends,

How would you like to rip thin strips without moving your fence or needing a jig?

Well it can be done and easier that you might think, you can rip 1/16" strips with out ever moving the fance and here is how you do it. Make sure the piece of wood is at least 3' long or longer.

Set the fence to the thickness you wish the strips to be and run the piece of wood half way through the saw, then raise it up and away from the blade then flip it 180º and hold the same face against the fence and complete the cut and your hands will never be any closer to the blade that half the length of the board. There is no danger of kick back for you are holding the board and strip.

Thanks Ralph. I may have time here soon to try out that "thin strip jig" of yours.
