January 28, 201115 yr Well I pulled the trigger on a LN shoulder plane. Two of my bench planes are LN, my No 4 and my No 8C Joiner. I love their quality and craftsmanship. LOML let me activate a credit card for tool purchases and this is the first thing I jumped on. Oh yeah, the card has a reeeeally low limit, thanks goodness! I could get in trouble real quick otherwise! The plane arrived two days ago and I haven't had a chance to pull it out of the box and put it to work. My chair that I am working on is ready for me to use it on. I can say this, the plane is beautiful. I got the medium shoulder plane. As some of you might recall I made a rabbet plane a couple weeks ago and while it turned out great, the results I wanted just weren't there. I investigated the Shop Fox Shoulder Plane, and found out I might need to drop that idea. By the way, thanks to all the folks that replied to that thread! So here we are, I sprung for the LN Medium Shoulder Plane, I look forward to giving you guys a tool review soon on this. Not this weekend though, my two oldest girls have their B-Day party tomorrow, and I need to help my youngest girl get her science fair project finished up. No time to play for dad! I should have a review up by next weekend so stay tuned. Thanks for reading
January 29, 201115 yr This is exactly the next plane on my list. I almost bought it at The Woodworking Shows a year ago but I was already spending quite a bit. Regret not getting it. Anxious to hear how you like it. I already have a Lie Nielsen low-angle block plane and I use it way more often than I even thought I would.
