I'm BAAACK

From a "vacation" of sorts.    I work with mainly pine, and any reclaimed lumber I can get my hands on.   Shop is about half neanderthal ( hand tools) and I've been known to make a plane or two.

Yep, I run the shop on a very thin shoestring.    No wood that's free is safe.    Pallet companies lock their gates when I drive by.      The most I've ever paid for a tool was $400, and that tablesaw is still running 25 years later.   I do a lot of hand tool work, because i won't spend any $$$ on a tool to do the job with a cord.  I tend to keep things simple, but I do very good at what I do.    Good fitting joints, clean lines, and just as fewfancy things as needed.    This is just a hobby for me.

Personally, I love any tool that has a cord on it cause I know it's doin the job for me. lol.

Yup, a good combination of tools is a great place to be as well. A sander is fine, but to get that surface perfectly flat, break out the #4 smoother and it compliments each other nicely. I used my block plane and smoother to get the bandsaw marks and irregularities out of the rocker legs, they worked great. The legs look nice and straight now. I love my power tools, but sometimes I have found that a nice sharp plane does the job well, and works in harmony with the power tools as well.
